A rice root aphid attacking basal parts of Phalaris minor,a noxcious weed in wheat crop in Nidana,Jind,Haryana.
This root aphid was killed by a naturally occuring pathogen.
Death of pest by a pathogen.

MEALYBUG PARASITOID - AENASIUS WASP

"ANGIRA" scientifically called Aenasius spp. is a parasitoid of cotton mealybug.

Mealybug is potential threat to cotton cultivation but this tinny wasp is potential threat to survival of mealybug.....The adult female of this Aenasius spp. lays its egg inside the body of mealybug.And with this action, mealybug becomes sicky and stops sucking.The larva of this tiny wasp on hatching starts feeding the mealybug from inside and completes all its stages inside the mealybug.Finally,adult wasp emerges through a exit hole to leave a free adult life.this wasp is capable of parasitizing upto 70-80% mealybug popultions.
